VW Apple Wallet Car Key MockVolkswagen is planning to offer Apple Wallet car keys in future vehicles, according to new server-side Apple code.

The code does not provide any more details, so we do not know which VW vehicle models will offer the feature or when.

I'm guessing you will pay for subscription to have this feature.

Don't trust code leaks as a sign of upcoming support. Same code was found in Lexus and no announcement months later. And I think the only Toyota that got it post-code discovery was the RAV4 and that was only with an extra subscription. There's a difference between "planning" to do something and just "testing."

No, but we should ditch GM because of their shoddy products.
Ditching Apple CarPlay and Android to go with their own proprietary solution is enough of a deal-breaker for me to avoid GM vehicles altogether.

Hyundai – OTOH – says they will adopt CarPlay Ultra although I'm not sure if they'll make it backward compatible to my '26 Palisade (via a firmware update).
